I actually can think of a legit reason to say no to a star. Picture this: First place has five stars and 30 coins. You're in second with four stars and 100 coins. The guy in third place has three stars, seventy coins, and is one space away from Boo. If you say yes to the star, third place will just steal it from you and you'll be in the same place you were before but with 20 fewer coins. If you say no, they'll have to steal from the guy with five stars, and now you'll be in first place.

I tried this world before, but at the castle level, it's very hard to complete.

I just realized something: the 3 orbs you collect are in connection with the 3 Spiritual Stones from “Zelda Ocarina of Time”. And, after you clear the Purple Streamer, you enter a place in connection to the Sacred Realm from “Zelda Ocarina of Time”. Furthermore, traveling the Great Sea is a reference to “Zelda Wind Waker”. Even furthermore, the music inside Diamond Island is a reference of “Zelda Skyward Sword”. So many Zelda references... This is why this is my 2nd favorite Paper Mario game.
